Need some inspiration for an upcoming Halloween Party? Then you’ll want to immediately pick up a fun Halloween cookbook with great ideas for your upcoming Halloween party. Creepy Kitchen: 60 Terror―rific Recipes That’ll Possess Your Palette , by Kim Kindelsperger.
This cookbook includes dozens of good recipes for dishes that guests will want to eat, and cooks will want to prepare. They include a good variety of dishes, and many of the ingredients are perfect for fall cooking and baking. The recipes are written in the traditional manner with the ingredients listed first, followed by step-by-step instructions so that the dishes turn out perfectly. The author has given names to the dishes that are supposed to be clever, but to my mind are stupid and un-relatable; some don’t make sense, and some aren’t Halloween related. Another problem with the book is that there are no photographs of the dishes. There are illustrations, and they are excellent and well done, but a themed book, especially for Halloween, needs to have real photos of the dishes so party planners can anticipate how their finished dishes will look, and those readers perusing the book will want to make the dishes.
All told, this isn’t the best Halloween book out there. It does have some good ideas and recipes that readers will want to make, but it misses the mark as to clever Halloween ideas and names of the dishes.
